I was only able to stay for 8 days, meaning I couldn't do the entire detox procedures. However, these 8 days were just fantastic!
The treatments were very, very professional, and my therapists Mina and Athina had magic hands. After this week, I already felt so relaxed and calm. The food also was just incredible. They have a big variety and make everything fresh according to your taste. Meena and the entire kitchen and service team are so welcoming. Meena always had the best tips for us, what to eat but also where to go, etc. I'm very grateful to the entire team for making it such a special stay.
Rooms are neat and clean. There is room cleaning every day.
Food is included : breakfast , lunch , and dinner.
Massages are amazing.
The view is pleasant and calming.
This seems less like a hospital and more like a resort. If you can imagine a place that's a good balance between a hospital and a resort, Shinshiva would be it.
We took the 14 day stay and we could already feel the difference.
Shinshiva Ayurvedic resort is one of my memorable experience. I would definitely recommend anyone to come and enjoy the service. As soon as you walk in you feel better in yourself. From the time we were picked up from the airport we experienced the smile and welcoming of the staffs .It's might not be a five stars Hotel but the treatments are five stars plus. I couldn't be grateful enough to each and all members of staffs..on the main the therapists are just amazing.
I surely recommend this place to everyone.

My partner and I have been going to Shinshiva every couple of years since 2005. Why? .. because Shinshiva is a very special place. The care provided, by all including the doctors, therapists, restaurant staff, cleaners and management is beyond wonderful. The location and views, perched on a cliff overlooking a fishing village and the Arabian sea is peaceful and magical. This is not some fancy resort, but a traditional and authentic haven of peace and healing.
I had a wonderful stay in Shinshiva, treatment and care was excellent. The doctors, the therapist, the restaurant team and all the staff was extraordinary helpful and taking care on all details. Thank you very much for this wonderful stay and the healing I got. I
We only stayed in this resort for two days, we did not have a real Ayurvedic treatment (which would last a minimum of 21 days). What I can say is that Ayurvedic massage is really relaxing. We really took time to take care of ourselves. The food is not bad, the fruit and juices are very good, not a wide choice of herbal teas because they assign their own for each dosha. We did yoga in the morning. Complete one hour lesson with meditation, pranayama and asanas. I recommend you try a place like this at least once in your life. Especially if you have a busy life.
Shinshiva is a perfect retreat with every day yoga classes in the morning and very good autentical treatments like panchakarma.
The staff is very professional and kind. Food also excellent. All this at a reasonable price.
I spent two weeks for an Ayurvedic detox at Shinshiva Ayurvedic Resort in 2017 and promised myself I would return two years later. This summer I kept my promise to myself.
There are many Ayurvedic resorts and spas scattered all over southern India, but there's something special about Shinshiva. Is it the quality of the treatments, the medical supervision? The kind, attentive staff that makes you feel at home? The fabulously beautiful location, perched high over a coconut palm palmgrove, looking at the Arabian Sea and the traditional fishermen going out to sea in the evening? Is it the immaculately tended garden filled with an infinite variety of plants, flowers and trees?
Other reviewers have mentioned what they appreciated about Shinshiva. But what they don't tell you is that many of their clients come back again and again, some every year. Others come to Shinshiva, try another Ayurvedic center the next time just to see what they're like then faithfully return to Shinshiva year after year. When it's full, there are no more than thirty-five guests at one time, assuring personal attention of the highest quality.
I will belong to the group who will find their way back to Shinshiva.
Shin Shiva is a truly magical place. I have been going back every year for around 7 years. The staff are great, the treatment excellent, location and amenities are perfect. Yoga at 7am sets up your day. Food is pretty special and all freshly cooked as you wait in the food hall overlooking the Arabian Sea. I have introduced many friends who are now going back as well.
I would like to see a changing of the guard in Doctors as the new young ones are probably more in tune with foreigners requirements, speak better English, and are highly trained in modern Ayurvedic hospitals. Maybe the older ones can still be in the background providing guidence but not the daily face to face consulting.
I just returned from a 27day stay at Shinshiva. It was a wonderful experience overall. There were always doctors there for consultation, and the wonderful friendly staff from the therapists to the dining room staff, housekeeping and grounds staff.
The resort overlooks the Arabian Sea, a perfect place to view the early morning fishermen as they send out their nets. The grounds are immaculately kept as are the rooms. The dining area is open-air covered with a thatched roof which I felt added to the ambience of the resort .
The first priority of Shinshiva is Ayurveda, and treatments are planned for your specific needs with Dr. Franklin overseeing your special needs, implemented by the doctors on staff, from type of treatments daily to Ayurvedic medicines that they administer, again to your specific case. Mine is Rheumatoid Arthritis, so the my treatments were specific to that. From my arrival until my departure I have to say that I experienced a tremendous improvement. I found I was able to walk 2km wheras when I arrived I would be hard-pressed to achieve 200 metres. The pain level of my arthritis was extremely reduced.
I have returned home with a supply of Ayurvedic medicines and a new love for south Indian cuisine. I've been scouring the local shops for ingredients to try and recreate some of the delicious foods that were served at Shinshiva.
It was fascinating to learn what it takes to become an Ayurvedic doctor, and some background about what it takes in terms of study and practical applications. Dr. Arya is a beautiful young doctor with high ideals and a gorgeous smile, and totally approachable. All of the doctors there are highly dedicated.
I am now back home with wonderfully fond memories, a much 'lighter' body in terms of the arthritis, and looking forward to relieving my body of the final issues with this horrid disease.
If all works well, I would love to return again next year for a follow-up. In every way, physically and mentally, it has been an amazing journey.
If anyone would like to talk to me or contact me about my stay, I have instructed the manager and head doctor that I would be pleased to talk to anyone. Shinshiva has my personal email address which they will share with you.
