Dr Saraswathy M, popularly known as Dr. Aparna Poomully Mana, was born into Mallissery Mana in Palakkad district. From the age of seven, alongside her modern school education, she entered into gurukula training under Valloor Sankaran Namboodiri, one of the eminent scholars of Ayurveda. Over more than a decade, she underwent rigorous training in Sanskrit, Vyakarana, Ashtangahrudayam, Charaka Samhitha, Visha Chikitsa (Toxicology), Bala Chikitsa, and related sciences. Following her gurukula education, she completed her formal medical degree in Ayurveda. After marrying into the royal lineage of Poomully Mana as the wife of Aramthampuran’s grandson, she became an integral custodian of this prestigious tradition. Currently serving as the Chief Resident Physician at Poomully Mana Heritage Ayurveda Centre, Dr Aparna plays a pivotal role in both clinical practice and the preservation of ancient Ayurvedic texts of Poomully Mana. She is also engaged in research on unique Ayurvedic formulations, keeping alive the glorious legacy of Poomully Aramthampuran while guiding guests on their path to holistic wellness.

After completing her graduation in Ayurveda, she married into the illustrious lineage of Poomully Mana, joining the royal heritage of Kerala’s Ayurvedic tradition. Currently serving as the Additional Resident Doctor at Poomully Mana Heritage Ayurveda Centre, Dr Arathi combines her clinical practice with rigorous training in Ayurveda and allied sciences under the guidance of Dr. Devan Namboodiri and Dr Aparna Poomully Mana. Poomally Mana was recommended to us by a couple of close friends who spoke so highly of their experience, and we’re so glad we decided to come here with the entire family. Even though it’s only our 4th day, we can already feel such a difference — we feel lighter, more energetic, and so much at peace. What truly makes this place special is the people. The doctors and staff don’t just take care of you, they genuinely make you feel like family. They’re so warm, so attentive, and always there with a smile, making you feel completely at home. The food, though simple, feels nourishing and comforting — just what we needed during this treatment. While I would like to thank each and every member of the team for their care and dedication, a special thanks goes to Dr. Aparna and Dr. Arathy for being so patient with us and for taking the time to explain each and every step of the treatment process so clearly. We’re really looking forward to seeing the results at the end of the 15 days, but even now, we feel so grateful for the change we’re experiencing. We spent 11 days at Poomully Mana undergoing Panchakarma treatment, and it was an extraordinary experience. Dr. Aparna and her team of expert Ayurvedic physicians and therapists personalize each treatment, skillfully blending professional expertise with genuine personal care. It feels as if they are entirely dedicated to you, ensuring a deeply healing and rejuvenating journey. Food is an integral part of the healing process here. The day begins with morning medicine at 545am, tea at 7am, and kanji for breakfast at 8am, followed by therapeutic body massages/treatments/medicines and rest before the lunch at 1pm. Afternoons include more treatments and medicines, evening tea or milk around 4pm, and a little time for a gentle walk around the campus, relaxation, or a visit to the serene 1000-year-old Ram temple.
