While elephant sanctuaries may be visited, elephant rides are discouraged due to ethical concerns. Instead, guests are invited to observe these gentle animals in their natural behaviour, with Nikki’s Nest facilitating connections with animal welfare organisations if needed.

Since 1996, Nikki’s Nest has been a sanctuary for authentic Ayurvedic healing. The centre is guided by a dedicated team of doctors with 19–26 years of experience, supported by 25 skilled masseurs, 17 treatment rooms, an Ayurveda kitchen, and daily yoga sessions. Every aspect is thoughtfully designed to nurture health, balance, and inner harmony.

A hallmark of Nikki’s Nest is its in-house production of Ayurvedic oils and powders at Duke’s Forest Lodge, the resort’s plantation. Under the supervision of the Ayurveda doctor, herbs and roots are carefully harvested—either freshly gathered from the plantation or sourced from trusted suppliers—and processed to create potent classical formulations. True to Kerala’s Ayurvedic traditions, the centre avoids the use of metals and minerals in medicine, focusing instead on pure herbal preparations drawn from the region’s rich biodiversity.

For internal medicines such as tablets, Nikki’s Nest partners with reputed, licensed companies holding a Good Manufacturing Stamp from the Government of India. Transparency is paramount—physicians explain the composition, preparation, and origin of each medicine, ensuring guests are fully informed and comfortable with their treatment.

Based on detailed consultations, therapies may follow Sodhana (Panchakarma) or Samana approaches, tailored to the guest’s dosha balance, capacity, and condition.
