Barberyn Reef Ayurveda Resort - Reviews

Wonderful place for the authentic ayurveda, the vegetarian food, freshly prepared every day, is great and the location stunning. People working there are also very nice and friendly (at the reception desk they could be nicer). The resort is also designed to be as sustainable as possible, and this is a great value. The beach is clean and thanks to the reef is possible to swim in a salty and clear pool. I was also in Barberyn Beach but Reef is much better, maybe less luxury but more genuine.

Barberyne Reef is full of charm on the edge of a very pretty beach but unfortunately quite dilapidated and a little outdated. The place deserves a good bit of work and a total overhaul of the air conditioning. The treatments, on the other hand, are very good! I highly recommend. The food is not up to par, sad and tasteless in the evening served at the table via a single menu but much better at lunchtime thanks to the buffet.
In short, a place that could be exceptional, but which deteriorates over time....

Again I

Excellent all round - daily massages, food, treatment, the beach, the doctors - it is everything I have read in the 5 star reviews and totally happy from arrival to departure. A lovely place to relax.
I yearn to visit again

This was the second visit to Barberyn Reef. Loved the first time but had the impression that things had gone downhill since then. I had to change rooms as the first was inhabited by huge black cockroaches! They also were visible in the dining room and around the treatment centre. The evening meal used to be a buffet but is now a set menu most nights. Very small portions and I usually left feeling hungry. The staff are for the most part good. The bath house could definitely do with an update. Next time I will probably return to Kovalum where I think treatments and food are better.

A wonderful surprise
It was the moment I need a cure. So I looked for a while to an authentic Ayurveda location. I booked and arrived in difficult Corona time. I don't know, what exactly can happen with me during a Ayurveda cure. They received me with open arms. From the beginning it was a pleasure to be on this place. The doctors and the whole treatments cannot be better. The day start with Yoga with permanent ocean sound. After a short swimming in the ocean I had a very good breakfast. Then comes the intense whole body massage from two sensitive masseurs. Steam bath, herbal poultices, water treatment and at last deep acupuncture. Special Ayurveda treatments choose the doctors for an individual therapy. Sometime I got on the Afternoon a special treatment for individual points. The meals and the medicine are tuned to every guest. In the Beauty Salon I got a very beautiful haircut from jinali. In this tree weeks I got a deep regeneration. This all I don't expected in this way. So was this all for me and my body system a wonderful surprise.
At home again I

Barberyn Reef is in a beautiful setting. I have been twice and each time left feeling and looking younger and renewed. The daily therapeutic treatments: acupuncture, steam room, massage ,herbal poultices and baths and other specialities the ayurvedic doctors prescribe for you, are are applied by dedicated staff. The food is organic ( vegetarian and some fish, if you wish, is delicious and gives you many choices. There are also local trips to sightsee and daily yoga. It is a special place for restoring oneself and I hope to be able to go again.

Barberyn is a special place. I felt at home and in very proffessional and save hands from the very first moment. The service is all inclusice - I did not pay a single cent extra for any of the special ayurvedic treatments. All medicine and oils are produced in house. I was truly impressed. I hope the country (the world!) recovers quickly from Corona so I can return for at least 2 weeks.
