Rajah Group first ventured into Ayurvedic Pharmaceuticals by establishing a medicine manufacturing unit, initially intended to provide authentic and traditional medicines exclusively for in-house guests. Over time, with the growing demand, this initiative evolved into a certified medicine factory. The modern plant was commissioned to ensure consistent quality while maintaining affordability.
Under the Rajah Ayurveda banner, there are four distinct centres – Rajah Healthy Acres, Rajah Island, Rajah Beach, and Rajah Eco Beach. Guests have the option to split their stay across these centres, depending on availability and approval from the attending doctors.
Rajah Island, established in 2001, covers 20 acres in the renowned backwaters of Kerala. It offers a fully equipped Ayurvedic centre amidst tranquil island surroundings, providing the ideal atmosphere for treatment and rejuvenation. The property features 35 cottages and rooms, accommodating up to 67 patients within a built-up area of 13,600 sq ft. Accommodation options include single rooms, waterfront cottages, Coconut Hut, River View, Lotus, and Mangrove cottages, each offering a unique charm. The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport.
Located approximately 10 kilometres south of Guruvayoor, Chettuva in Thrissur district, Rajah Island is renowned for its serene and picturesque backwaters. The setting combines natural beauty and tranquillity, enriched with mangrove vegetation, Chinese fishing nets, estuaries, a historic fort, migratory birds, and charming islets. Chettuva is home to the largest mangrove forest in Kerala, positioned at the heart of its backwaters. The waterways stretch from Enamakkal Lake to an estuary that merges with the Arabian Sea. Exploring by boat is the ideal way to unwind, with options such as shikaras, motorboats, or houseboats. Guests can witness mussel harvesting, toddy tapping, coconut palms, mangroves, and birdlife, all while enjoying the refreshing breeze.
Rajah Ayurveda’s uniqueness is highlighted by its herbal garden and plantation, featuring a wide collection of Ayurvedic herbs and naturally grown plants. Traditional Kerala vegetation includes Coconut Trees, Areca Palms, Mango Trees, Jackfruit, and Banana plants. Awareness counselling follows detailed consultations with doctors, supported by a comprehensive presentation, offering insights into Ayurvedic fundamentals, medicines, treatments, and their benefits.
The commitment to environmental sustainability is reflected in eco-friendly initiatives, including windmills, solar panels, electric motor vehicles, earthworm compost plants, and rainwater harvesting ponds, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and natural gas. Biomedical waste management is strictly practised, with segregation, storage, and disposal carried out in compliance with regulations.
